TV REMOTE +
PANASONIC
Taking home entertainment outside and teaching kids that curiosity is the best story there is.
We worked with Panasonic’s New Product Division to design and develop PA!GO — a magic remote for children that reimagines what a TV remote is and turns technology for young children from something they sit in front of into a tool for discovery.
Our goal was to foster curiosity and exploration through a physical search engine that takes kids outside, away from the screen.
PA!GO is an Edge TPU powered device that captures, analyzes and identifies the world around you using on-device Machine Learning powered by Google’s TensorFlow + Coral. The device lets kids point at things outside to learn more about them, then connects them to further educational content when back at home.
Designed to be SUSTAINABLE and ACCESSIBLE:
The PA!GO shell was constructed out of 100% sustainable materials and we also partnered with SEEED Studio to sell a maker-kit version of the remote that can be constructed out of cardboard.

Built with Google's TensorFlow and a low powered Google Edge TPU, PA!GO can identify objects on device without the need for an internet connection.
PA!GO's computer vision was powered by Google's MobileNetV2 and the iNaturalist dataset to recognise over 10,000 species of plants and animals.
PA!GO was developed as part of an experiment between Google and Panasonic to explore the future of children's home entertainment and debuted at Berlin Open Air and Google Next Tokyo.
PA!GO was launched at Berlin's Tech Open Air and Google NEXT Tokyo in 2018 and received internal funding from the CEO of Panasonic in 2019.
PA!GO received a ‘Gold’ iF world design award in 2020.
